As its name implies, TheSage’s English Dictionary and Thesaurus is a piece of software which allows you to look up words in the English dictionary and thesaurus. It can be easily handled, even by rookies.
This app can also be installed as a portable product. This means that you can store TheSage’s English Dictionary and Thesaurus on a USB flash drive or any other storage device, save it to any computer and directly run its executable file.
Therefore, you can carry the app with you whenever you’re on the move. More importantly, no leftover items can be found in the Windows Registry or on the hard drive after deleting the tool.
The interface of the program is professional-looking. So, you can write text and discover its definition, along with examples as part of a speech, synonyms and hypernyms. Furthermore, you can use wildcards and a text-to-speech tool, as well as find anagrams.
TheSage’s English Dictionary and Thesaurus comes with plenty of customization features. For instance, you can set up wildcard parameters (e.g. limit results to first 100 matches), modify the font size, family, text color and default background color, enable case sensitive mode and store lemmas.

It can be minimized to the system tray and scheduled to automatically run at system startup. We have not encountered any problems during our tests; TheSage’s English Dictionary and Thesaurus did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. Users can look into a thorough help file. All in all, TheSage’s English Dictionary and Thesaurus is an excellent tool for writers, translators, linguists or casual users.
