Site monitoring Description

Site monitoring is a reliable program that you can use in order to check if your websites are up and properly running. The application can monitor webpages, sitemaps or an entire website and record the response time over a specified period. A chart is automatically generated so you may view the status of your website.

Java-based tool

Site monitoring comes as a tool built with Java, so naturally, it requires the aforementioned platform in order to run. The tool runs in your local browser and connects to a dedicated server or port. The monitoring dashboard can be password protected, in order to restrict the access of unauthorised users.

Site monitoring does not require installation, you can simply run it, by double clicking on the application. However, it is rather indicated that you run it in command line, in order to automate the browser opening. Once you log in, you can view the status of any website you wish to monitor, check HTTP result codes and even the page contents.

Response time and error log

For each website you wish to monitor, you can start a single check or a sitemap check. The application can acquire the website’s response time and marks the average value on a chart. It can instantly generate the chart and log the values in real time, for the selected period of time. Thus, you can conduct a continuous check for several hours, days or months.

In case errors are detected, the tool notifies you, by entering the date, time and relevant details of the failed process. It can mark the response time, measured in milliseconds and indicated the HTTP result.

Email notification

You can set Site monitoring to automatically send email notifications, should an error occur. This option can be enabled from the Configuration menu, at the top of the page. You may also change username and password from this window, as well as set the utility to check or ignore broken links.
