Rec’d Description

Rec’d is a lightweight and cross-platform piece of software that makes it easy for you to record online MP3 streams and save them on your computer.

Streamlined GUI

You can start working with this small app right away since it does not require any kind of installation; simply unzip the archive and use the executable to launch it.

The application’s main window is very compact, so it will not take unnecessary space on your computer’s desktop and its interface is quite barren with a small set of elements.

Press the red button once to start the recording, press once more to save it on your computer

As you may have guessed based upon its overall looks, the workflow is quite straightforward. Just enter the URL for the MP3 stream in the dedicated field, manually input the bitrate (measured in KB/s), choose an MP3 file to save the stream to and press the round red button.

Once you have pressed the button, the recording starts and Rec’d displays a minimal timer that displays the length of your recording. Evidently, in order to terminate the recording process, you only need to press the same red button once more.

Could be a lot better if it would actually playback the recorded stream

In addition to all this, Rec’d can also record and extract audio content from m3u files. In this case, you can simply load the file by dragging and dropping from its location onto the app’s main window to get the URL.

While the utility works exactly as it should, it is worth mentioning that a preview feature would have been quite useful. This said, the app does not offer you feedback about the captured audio stream and, therefore, you will have to rely on other tools that do.

Effortlessly record live streams

All in all, Rec’d is an unobtrusive and unpretentious application that helps you record live streams to MP3 files with the least amount of effort on your behalf.
