R-Studio is a professional data recovery software used to recover lost or deleted files from hard drives, SSDs, USB drives, memory cards, and even damaged or formatted partitions. It supports Windows, macOS, and Linux file systems, and is widely used by IT professionals and data recovery experts.
🧠Getting Started with R-Studio
âś… 1. Download and Install R-Studio
- Go to the official site: https://www.r-studio.com
- Download the correct version for your OS (Windows, Mac, Linux)
- Install and run it as administrator
đź’ˇ Tip: Install it on a different drive than the one you’re recovering data from, to avoid overwriting data.
🔍 2. Select the Drive to Scan
- On the main screen, R-Studio shows all detected drives and partitions.
- Select the disk/partition where you lost data.
- If the partition is missing, look for “Recognized” or “Unallocated” entries—R-Studio may still detect raw data.
🧪 3. Scan the Drive
- Click the “Scan” button (or right-click > Scan).
- Choose scan options:
- File system types (NTFS, FAT32, exFAT, etc.)
- Extra search for known file types (if the partition is damaged)
- Click “Scan” to begin. This may take time depending on drive size.
🔎 4. Browse Recovered Files
After scanning:
- R-Studio shows a tree of found files and folders.
- You’ll see:
- Real folder structure (if recoverable)
- Extra found files grouped by type (e.g., Images, Documents)
âś… Double-click a file to preview it (images, documents, etc.)
🔴 If it doesn’t preview correctly, the file may be damaged or incomplete.
đź’ľ 5. Recover Files
- Check the boxes next to files/folders you want to recover.
- Click “Recover”.
- Choose a different drive as the destination (never save to the same drive you’re recovering from).
- Set options (file renaming, data stream saving, etc.), then click OK.
🧰 6. Advanced Features (Optional)
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Disk imaging | Create a full image of a failing drive (.dsk/.iso) |
| RAID reconstruction | Virtually rebuild RAID arrays for recovery |
| Hex editor | View/edit raw disk sectors or file headers |
| SMART monitoring | Check health status of physical drives |
| File signature search | Recover files by type (useful for badly corrupted drives) |
🧠Tips for Best Results
- Stop using the drive immediately after data loss.
- Use disk image first if the drive is failing.
- Enable Deep Scan if standard recovery doesn’t find your files.
- Preview files before recovery to check for integrity.
🛑 What R-Studio Cannot Do
- Recover data from physically dead drives (use a data recovery lab).
- Recover files overwritten by new data.
- Bypass encryption (you need the key/password).
