Qonsole Description

Qonsole is a small application that allows you to access all the functions you would use in Command Line from a modern-looking console, similar to the one in the Quake games. The console uses the same arguments as Command Line, the only difference is the layout and the possibility of customizing it.

Turn Command Line into a Quake-like console

Qonsole allows you to operate the usual Command Line arguments from a slim looking console, which opens at the top of your screen. The application displays a dark background, with no margins, in which you can type the desired commands. Similar to the Quake games, the rest of the screen is covered with a semi-transparent layer, which indicates that the console is active.

All the regular PC functions are available, even though your desktop is covered with the darker layer. The application can run in the background and maintains an icon in the system tray, for you to open and close at any moment. Simply click on the icon to open/close Qonsole.

Configure your console’s layout

Qonsole can be modified, according to your preferences. The Settings window can be accessed from the context menu prompted by double-clicking the icon in the system tray. You can change the transparency of the console, the opacity of the screen layer, as well as the size of the console.

Moreover, you can set certain startup arguments, which are activated each time you open the console. You can set the color of the background, set it to automatically start with Windows, as well as enable Ctrl + V pasting option.

Simple startup configurations

Qonsole needs no installation, but the program creates an initialization file the first time you run it. The file contains the path from which the program is opened, so if you change the location of the Qonsole folder, you need to make sure the path in the INI file is also updated. You might need to manually modify the INI file.
