Leapic Video Joiner is an approachable Windows utility designed to merge together video clips of the same file format or different ones. It does not include complex options or configuration settings, which means it can be handled by all types of users, regardless of their level of experience.
Hassle-free installation and simple GUI
The setup procedure is rapid and uneventful. As far as the interface is concerned, Leapic Video Joiner adopts a normal window with a neatly organized structure, where videos can be added to the task list using either the file browser or drag-and-drop support.
The utility offers support for many popular video formats, including 3GP, AMV, AVI, VOB, FLV, MKV, MPG, MOV and RMVB.
The task list shows the full path, format, duration, resolution, size and date of modification, along with the audio and video codec for each file. It is possible to change their order in the list and preview them in a built-in media player.
Configure output settings
Leapic Video Joiner can either keep the original format (if all files are of the same type) or turn the videos into another type, such as 3GP, ASF, AVI, FLV, MKV, VOB and WMV. Alternatively, it is possible to prepare the clips for playback on popular devices like PS3, iPhone or iPod.
Before converting the files, users may tinker with the audio and video parameters pertaining to the size, quality, sample rate, channel mode, and so on. Once the output destination and file name are set, conversion may be initialized with the click of a button.
Evaluation and conclusion
The tool has minimal impact on PC performance, since it runs on low CPU and RAM. It delivered quality clips after conversion in our tests. No error dialogs were shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. However, it is very slow when reading videos after adding them to the list, as well as during conversions. It is also quite pricey, considering that similar apps with similar features are free to use.
