Jpegcrop Description
As suggested by its name, Jpegcrop is a software application designed for cropping images with the JPG format. But it has other picture adjustment features built-in as well.
This is a portable program, so installing Jpegcrop is not necessary. It means that you can save the app to a removable device and directly run its executable file on any computer.
More importantly, no leftover items are found in the Windows Registry or on the hard drive after program removal.
The application’s UI is based on a standard window where you can load pictures by using either the file browser or ‘drag and drop’ function. It’s not possible to work with multiple items at the same time.
So, you can crop, rotate, flip and transpose pictures, zoom in and out, as well as apply a grayscale filter, trim the edges and save the pictures with zoom. Frames can be saved to the JPG format.
From the ‘Preferences’ screen, you can select the entropy coding method (Huffman default, Huffman optimized, arithmetic), marker copy option (none, comments, all) and processing mode (abort on warnings, or ignore them). Plus, you can enable progressive coding and make Jpegcrop copy the file time.
The image editing program runs on a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, has a good response time and quickly applies changes to pictures. We have not come across any issues during our evaluation; Jpegcrop did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. First-time users need some time to get accustomed to Jpegcrop’s features; there is no help file available.
