IECacheView is a small-sized and portable software utility designed to display files which exist in the Internet Explorer cache directory. It does not contain complex features or configuration parameters, making it suitable for all kinds of users.
The advantages of portable apps
Since there is no setup pack involved, you can put the program files in a custom location on the HDD and run the executable immediately.
Alternatively, the app files can be placed on a removable storage unit, so you can run IECacheView on any machine without previously installing anything.
Moreover, it does not modify Windows settings or create additional files on the hard disk without consent, thus leaving no traces behind after its removal.
The main app window has a clean and intuitive structure, where a list is immediately populated with IE cache files at startup. Information includes the name, content type, URL, date of creation, modification and access, total hits, size, and other details regarding each file.
View and export export information
It is possible to open a file’s location in Windows Explorer or URL in browser, export selected items or all information to file for further evaluation, use a search function to locate particular items easier, and so on.
Performance and conclusion
IECacheView is low-demanding concerning CPU and RAM, so it does not hog system resources. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since the tool did not hang, crash or display error messages. It serves its purpose and can be easily used by anyone for inspecting Internet Explorer cache files.
