Highlight Description

Highlight is a straightforward program that converts programming code to HTML, XHTML, RTF and TEX, with support for syntax highlighting.

The interface of the application is made from a regular window with a well-defined layout.

Files can be loaded into the workspace by using either the file browser or “drag and drop” function. Highlight can process multiple items simultaneously, so you can add as many files as you want.

Aside from previewing results in the main frame, you can establish the output destination and file t ypes, and configure output settings concerning stylesheets (e.g. embed CSS) or HTML (e.g. generate an index file).

Plenty of configuration settings are available through this program. For instance, you can format text in regard to the color theme, reformatting mode, keyword case, line wrapping, font name, size and others, as well as add line numbers, omit the header and footer, select the encoding method and add plugins. The file can also be directly copied to the Clipboard.

Highlight includes user documentation, runs smoothly and requires a moderate quantity of CPU and system memory. We have not encountered any difficulties throughout our testing, since the app did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. In conclusion, Highlight provides users with a simple method to convert programming code to various file types while highlighting the syntax.
