GeoDataSource World Cities Database (Premium Edition) Description
The premium edition of GeoDataSource World Cities Database contains a rich database of cities from all over the world, which can be implemented into your software applications. A list of samples can be downloaded and tried for free to check it out.
The package includes a TXT-formatted file with the region, subregion, UFI, UNI, DSG, CC_FIPS, CC_ISO and FULL_NAME code of each location, along with the FULL_NAME_ND, SORT_NAME, ADM1, ADM1_FULL_NAME, ADM2 and ADM2_FULL_NAME.
GeoDataSource World Cities Database Premium Edition is compatible with MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and any other database software solution that can import over 3,400,000 records from a tab-delimited plain text document in ASCII format.
The feature designation codes can be examined on the developer’s official website. For example, PPL stands for populated place while PPLL represents a populated locality. In addition, you can explore the specifications (field name, description, type, length) such as the region_code (1 for Africa, 2 for the Americas, 3 for Antarctica, 4 for Asia, 5 for Europe, and 6 for Oceania). The “ufi” stands for unique feature identifier, “cc_iso” for ISO 3166 primary country code, and “adm2_full_name” for the full name of the second-order administrative division.
