Foxmail is a free email client developed by Tencent, widely used in China but also available in English. It supports both POP3 and IMAP protocols, and works with major email services like Gmail, Outlook, and others.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to using Foxmail:

1. Download and Install Foxmail

  • Go to the official site: https://www.foxmail.com (You may need to use a translator if it’s in Chinese.)
  • Download the installer and run it.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

2. Set Up Your Email Account

When you open Foxmail for the first time:

  1. Click “New Account” or similar prompt.
  2. Enter your email address and password.
  3. Foxmail will try to automatically detect server settings.
    • If it fails, manually enter:
      • IMAP / POP3 server
      • SMTP server
      • Port numbers
      • SSL/TLS options

Example for Gmail:

  • IMAP server: imap.gmail.com, Port: 993 (SSL)

Note: For Gmail, you may need to enable “Allow less secure apps” or use an app password if 2FA is on.
