FolderMatch is a nifty program which you can use to synchronize any two folders on your computer.
This type of tool helps you if you want to update backups on a regular basis, for example, thus keeping your sensitive data safe against unexpected system errors.
The interface of the application consists of two panes where you can specify the folders you want to compare, by using only the file browser, since the “drag and drop” functionality is not included.
FolderMatch provides several folder synchronization methods. For instance, you can replace older files and copy orphan objects (in both locations), move the contents from one folder to the other, or define a custom sync way (e.g. delete certain items, replace the objects of one folder).
On top of that, you can compare two folders when it comes to the size, date and time, attributes, version, binary contents, MD5 or SHA-1 signature, along with the file differences.
But you may also view the hexadecimal dump of a file, synchronize the system clock with the ones from online servers, save settings for further projects or restore them to their default values, as well as change program sounds and fonts, just to name a few.
The file processing application contains a help file, has a good response time and quickly finishes a synchronization job while using a very low amount of CPU and system memory. We have not encountered any problems in our tests, since FolderMatch did not hang or crash. Although some improvements are welcomed in the visual department of the GUI, FolderMatch should please users of all skill levels.
