DynDNS Service Description

DynDNS Service is a lightweight software application designed specifically for helping you automatically update your computer’s public IP address at your domain provider.

It installs itself as a Windows service and lets you update the information for multiple domains at different DynDNS providers at the same time.

User interface

At the end of the installation process, you can find the program running quietly in the system tray without interfering with your work. A right-click on its icon gives you quick access to the configuration panel.

The GUI of the tool coincides with the configuration window and adopts a multi-tabbed layout for helping you tweak the detection and update process, send emails, check out the log, execute scripts, and register the utility.

Detection tweaks

You can make the application automatically check your public IP address at a custom number of minutes, set up proxy parameters (username, password), and enable a web interface on a port number so you can control the tool from any web browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Opera, IE).

Update settings

DynDNS Service offers you the possibility to set up a list with your providers. Adding a new provider can be done by giving a set of details about the provider name, domain name, and update URI of your provider.

Plus, you can enable or disable the update process for the current provider, set up authentication parameters (username and password), and enter a series of keywords to show a successful update.

Several provider management features allow you to edit or remove providers from the list, as well as pick the preferred order by moving them up or down.

Other important settings worth being mentioned help you force the update process and send notifications for each attempt, successful or failed updates, and failed detections.

Notification support

DynDNS Service records activity in a separate log, reveals popup notifications upon detection and update errors, and sends email notifications as well. The tool is able to perform scripts after a successful detection of a public IP address and failed detection.

Bottom line

All things considered, DynDNS Service integrates a smart suite of features for helping you monitor the current status of your public IP address and update the information for multiple domains.
