World POI Database Description
Points of interest, or POIs, are important features on a map that mark the locations of cities, landmarks, buildings, tourist attractions or other such elements. They can be stored in various types of files and used by GPS devices or specialized applications.
World POI Database provides you with an extensive list of cities and points of interest that can be browsed offline and exported to KML, GPX, CSV or XLS files. It offers a handy search function and features a minimalistic, intuitive interface.
Extensive offline database that comes in two variations
While the POI list offered by the application can be browsed offline, an Internet connection is required to download the necessary data when first launching the program.
You can choose between three databases, one of which is only designed as a demo and includes a very limited number of locations. The remaining two contain all the available cities, as well as additional points of interest.
Locate specific cities or places and export waypoints
The database is organized alphabetically, and you can expand certain folders to view POIs found in particular countries or areas. However, it is much easier to use the built-in search function when you want to locate specific elements, and there are several filters you can apply to narrow down the results.
When it comes to saving the data, you can export multiple POIs at the same time, and the application supports the KML, GPX, CSV and XLS output formats.
