WindowSMART Description

WindowSMART is a feature-rich software application developed to monitor your hard drives, identify issues and suggest solutions. It comes packed with a handy set of options for all user levels.

The interface is represented by a standard interface with a well-defined structure, where you can select a disk to view by evaluating the model, capacity and temperature of all devices.

Shown hardware characteristics include model, serial number, firmware version, description, interface, media type, and so on.

The bottom part of the screen displays S.M.A.R.T. details when it comes to the ID number (decimal and hexadecimal), critical status, type, threshold, current and worst value, along with the status and raw data for each attribute.

Meanwhile, in the status bar you can view total retired sectors, remaining SSD life, bad sectors and pending bad sectors, reallocation events, temperature, and runtime of the selected disk.

Furthermore, it is possible to query disks, enable fast refresh, perform disk self-tests, as well as to export results to an HTML, CSV, TSV or TXT file for closer inspection.

As far as program settings are concerned, you can ask the tool to pot disks for SMART data at a specific time rate, enable notifications, establish the threshold for critical, overheated, hot and worm temperature, manage ignored problems and disks, and so on.

WindowSMART has minimal impact on system performance, using low CPU and RAM, so it does not hog resources. It is very responsive to commands and shows accurate information. We have not come across any problems throughout our evaluation, since the tool did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. All in all, WindowSMART comes bundled with an extensive set of nifty options for all users who want to monitor their HDDs and SSDs.
