Wikio for Wikipedia Description

While the official Wikipedia apps for Android and iOS devices receive regular updates, the Windows version seems to have been neglected for some time. If you are looking for an easier way to browse the website on your Windows 10 devices, you pretty much have to turn to a third-party application.

One of your options is Wikio for Wikipedia, and it is quite an impressive piece of software, especially if you prefer apps with streamlined, minimalistic layouts. It doesn’t offer a huge assortment of features, but it covers the essentials.

Browse Wikipedia on your desktop and mobile devices

Sure, using the website is easy enough, and most of us are quite familiar with it, but a dedicated application can make things even better, especially on your smartphone. Since this is a UWP app, all your settings and data will be transferred between your devices.

You will notice that the application lets you browse the mobile version of Wikipedia, which is optimized so as to reduce clutter. The app’s UI itself features a minimalistic design, with only a few essential interface elements being included.

The app’s feature set should be enough for most users, but some additions would be welcome

Wikio for Wikipedia allows you to search for specific articles, open a random one, view your history and even open a certain page in your default web browser.

However, an important feature is missing, namely the option to save articles for offline reading. Also, it would be great if it were possible to export pages to PDF files.

Well-designed UI that could still use a couple of tweaks

As expected, the interface’s layout changes based on the size of the application window, adapting itself to any device you are using. Unfortunately, though, there is no option to hide the right-hand panel manually.

Additionally, I would love to see a reading mode function implemented, which would allow you to hide all interface elements when all you wish to do is read an article.

In short, Wikio for Wikipedia is one of the best Wikipedia apps available for Windows 10 users, even though it’s not quite perfect. It stands out through its sleek, intuitive UI, but it lacks a few important features.
