Whale Description

Considering just how much our way of working using computers has changed over the last twenty years, there’s really no surprise that Get-Things-Done applications are becoming more and more popular.

One solid example is Trello, a comprehensive project management tool/ collaboration tool that allows you and your team to organize projects or even personal data into versatile, editable boards.

A valid alternative to all the available unofficial Trello clients from the Microsoft Store

The most straightforward way to access Trello is, of course, via its official web-app which is, by all accounts, very smooth-running and well sorted. If you’re running Windows 8 or later on your computer, then you can also choose one of the few unofficial desktop clients from the Microsoft Store but, truth be told, they’re rarely as good as the web app.

Having said that, there’s yet another, possibly better way: Whale. In just a few words, this is an unofficial wrapper/desktop client that basically brings the whole functionality of the Trello web-app directly to your computer’s desktop.

No installation required and the same intuitive Trello UI which you have come to know

It’s quite easy to get started with, as well, as you just need to download the app, unzip its archive and run it using the designated executable file. Of course, just as is the case with the web-app, you will be prompted to log in using your official Trello credentials at first.

Regarding functionality, you should not expect too much, as there are no noteworthy extra features provided by this simplistic wrapper, except, maybe, the fact that you can access the app via its small taskbar icon.

Just another run-of-the-mill, unofficial, and cross-platform Trello desktop client

In the case of wrappers such as Whale, it might be a bit tricky to really appreciate them as, at the end of the day, they don’t really bring extra functionality to the service itself. However, Whale does bring Trello from your Mac or computer’s browser directly to the desktop without compromising speed which, for some users, might just be enough.
