Webcam Capture Description
Webcam Capture is a very simple software solution that enables you to monitor one or more webcam feeds from a streamlined, minimalistic user interface. It offers several visual effects and can help you modify your webcam’s properties.
However, despite what its name suggests, the application cannot record content, so it is not particularly useful.
Lightweight, no-nonsense webcam monitoring utility
After the fairly straightforward installation procedure, you only need to launch the newly created desktop shortcut and select the camera you wish to monitor. If more than one is connected, you should be able to switch between them easily.
Unfortunately, the application does not allow you to record the video content displayed in the main window, so it is not the best surveillance tool out there, but it can be useful for testing out your webcam.
Choose one of the included display modes and customize the video parameters
Once you have accessed your webcam’s video feed, you can apply one of the several included visual effects to spice things up. Among the available filters, we can mention Inverted, Gray Scale and Difference map.
Webcam Capture also makes it easy for you to modify the video capture properties, such as the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, white balance and gain.
Finally, it is possible to change the default frame rate, output size and compression mode, as well as compression quality.
Simple utility that features a minimalistic user interface
This is clearly not a feature-packed application, but it may still be a good choice for users who wish to test their webcams or monitor various locations, although the lack of a recording option is a major drawback.
As far as the user interface is concerned, it does not stand out too much, and the application’s layout is very straightforward. However, it would have been great if you had the option of displaying the video feed in a separate window.
