Vitomu Description

You can find pretty much any popular song on YouTube, but you might not always want to bring up your web browser when you want to listen to it. While there are tools that can help you convert videos to MP3, many of them are not exactly user-friendly.

Vitomu is a relatively simple application that enables you to extract audio tracks from YouTube videos and even convert clips stored locally. It is very easy to use, but it lacks a few important features.

Just drop URLs or files to extract audio tracks instantly

The program’s UI features a minimalistic design, as it only serves as a place to drag YouTube URLs or local video files. You can also paste links while the app window is in the foreground to begin downloading and converting content.

It would have been great if users had the option of sending the application to the system tray, as well as reducing the dimensions of the main window even further. A small desktop widget that can be used for dropping links or files would also be a good idea.

Easy-to-use video to audio converter that needs a few more features

Vitomu can only convert videos to MP3, which isn’t a major issue, as this format is used extensively. However, it is not possible to customize the bit rate when encoding, something that needs to be addressed in future releases. Support for more input formats would also be welcome, as the program can only process MP4 and MKV files at present.

Most importantly, though, the application is not capable of downloading YouTube playlists, which is how music albums and collections are often organized on the website. On a somewhat related note, we would like it if other media hosting services were supported as well.

Great for converting individual YouTube videos or local clips to MP3

In the end, Vitomu is a promising app that just doesn’t offer enough features at present. It does a great job of converting YouTube videos and MKV or MP4 files to MP3, but it doesn’t offer enough customization options and needs some additional features.
