VietOCR Description
VietOCR is a Java-based software application which uses OCR in order to help individuals retrieve text from scanned files.
This utility is portable, meaning that you can easily bypass the installation process. As a result, the Windows registry and Start menu/screen are not going to suffer any changes, and upon its removal, there will be no leftover files.
In addition to that, you should know you can use this software tool on any computer you have access to, by simply copying the program files to a USB flash drive, or other such portable storage device.
The interface sports quite a minimal design and it consists of a few shortcut buttons, a menu bar and two panels, in which you can view the uploaded scanned document and the OCR results, so that you can easily compare them.
This software utility supports import from formats such as GIF, JPG, PNG, PNM and TIF. Aside from that, you can scan documents directly from the main window, deskew them, and view image properties such as width, height (expressed in pixels, inches or cm), and X and Y resolution.
The UI presents multi-language support, while the OCR language can be changed, from English to Vietnamese. The font type, style and size can be customized, a spell checker can be used, while merging TIFF and PDF files is possible, as well as splitting the latter type of document.
