Ultra Image Printer Description

Ultra Image Printer is a virtual printer that can turn any printable document into an image file. It offers support for JPG, PNG, BMP, multi-page TIF and GIF format, and it comes packed with simple options that can be configured with ease by any type of user.

Compatibility issues with newer Windows

Before proceeding any further, you should know that it doesn’t work properly on newer Windows versions. In our tests, we attempted to install Ultra Image Printer on Windows 10 but, although no errors were indicated, the printer couldn’t be found in the printer list.

We tried resolving this issue by installing the application in compatibility mode for older Windows as well as with administrative rights but this didn’t work either. According to the developer, it doesn’t work on any other Windows than Vista, 2003, XP or 2000.

Generate images from any printable document

If the tool is successfully installed, though, it becomes visible in the printer list, which can be accessed from any program that supports printing. Instead of choosing a physical printer, you can opt for Ultra Image Printer, in order to generate image files instead of printing the documents on paper.

Set the image format, saving folder, file name, and other properties

The software utility runs as a background service at all times (UltraPrtAdmin.exe). It gives you the possibility to tinker with some output settings from a simple configuration window, where you can specify the default saving directory for images, the file naming pattern, file format, encoding mode, JPG quality, and TIFF encoding mode. Moreover, you can instruct the tool to generate one image per page or create multi-page TIFFs, as well as to ask for a file name every time you want to print something.

Useless virtual printer for modern Windows

All aspects considered, Ultra Image Printer is easy to use. It created images quickly in our tests and had minimal impact on the computer’s performance. However, it’s useless for modern users who prefer the latest Windows version.
