Ufasoft Snif Description

Ufasoft Snif can help network administrators find out what goes on in their network by providing them with a powerful packet capturing application capable of intercepting all types of transferred messages.

The package includes two separate applications, namely Ufasoft IM Snif and Ufasoft Packet Snif. It is not difficult to figure out what each does, since their names are so suggestive. The first application is specialized in indentifying packets sent and received by instant messaging applications, while the latter can monitor the network traffic for a LAN or WLAN.

Ufasoft Packet Snif is compatible with various network protocols (TCP, UDP, ICMP, PPPoE, IPv6, SLIP and more) and features ARP-spoofing to allow the capturing of messages travelling between any two computers connected to a single Ethernet switch. With the help of this technique, the application detects all packets, not just those who are addressed to your computer.

All the detected packets are displayed in an organized table, along with their sending order, the transmission time, the length, details on the source and the destination MAC / IP addresses and ports. The captured data can be exported to the hard drive as PCAP, XML or TXT files.

The usage is similar for the other application, Ufasoft IM Snif. Once the LAN is scanned, you can view a list of the sent and received packets used by email, FTP, mail and IM applications to communicate with each other.

Ufasoft Snif features filtering capabilities and can automatically resolve IP addresses to domain names. It can prove useful to network administrators, enabling them to intercept all the travelling packages and identify any suspicious activity in due time.
