TreeLine Description

TreeLine is a lightweight application created to help users better organize their most important information and tasks.

Simple to use and efficient task organizer

It comes with an intuitive interface that enables users to quickly add new tasks or edit personal information. For each new template users create, the application organizes the data in a tree-shaped mini-database, making it very accessible and easy to monitor.

In case of a tight schedule, TreeLine is a good addition to one’s software toolset, because it allows the storage of numerous activities or information in a single place. This prevents a desktop filled with sticky notes or opened text documents, which might be easily missed, accidentally closed or forgotten.

Store tasks, notes and links without combining data

A practical feature of TreeLine is that it allows its users to export the entire data tree to several file formats, such as XML, HTML or ODF. Any task or note can be assigned an internal link, reducing the time spent searching for specific data.

Unfortunately, users can not combine multiple data types; for example, TreeLine does not allow the addition of a contact to a task. A contact list or a task database must be created separately, using a different template.

Optional additions that can improve the user experience

The spell checking feature can only be activated if users have an external third-party application installed on their computer, namely Ispell, Hunspell or Aspell. In other words, spell checking is not available without one of the above-mentioned programs.

Also, there are several plugins that can be installed. These allow users to directly open a file from a web server or to update empty fields using the IDs from another file.

When it comes to task management and schedule organizing, TreeLine can definitely play a role. Whether that role will be more or less important, it depends on the expectations of every user.
