TinyCAD Description

TinyCAD is an efficient utility that enables you to draw circuit diagrams, commonly known as schematic drawings, as well as PCB layout programs and SPICE simulation net lists.

The interface of the software program is intuitive and a bit outdated, resembling the classical design used in Windows 98 or 95. Although the UI is easy to work with, the program presents a specific terminology and therefore, it may not be accessible to every type of user.

The main window comprises a library that contains a large number of already created symbols, such as connectors, microcontrollers, semiconductors and batteries, a small preview panel and a sheet for creating the schematic drawings.

The application also presents a small search tool that enables you to look for a symbol by inputting its name, along with a lot of shortcut buttons, thus enhancing ease of use significantly. You should also know you can import a lot of other libraries, with the formats supported being TCLib, MDB and IDX.

You can check for design errors or warnings, such as duplicate references, unconnected items, power connected to an output, unconnected nets and non-case distinct net names. This feature helps you correct flaws in your projects.

Automatic backup is featured at every few minutes, so as to prevent data loss in case of unexpected crashes. The files are saved with a “BACKUP” file extension in the same directory as the original. You can also control the color for the wires, junctions, power, bus, pin and drawing background display, as well as show or hide all the toolbars.

All in all, TinyCAD is an efficient piece of software with fast responses. Moreover, it does not consume a lot of your RAM and the CPU usage is low. No bugs or crashes were registered during our tests.
