- Install: Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install TeamViewer.
2. Create a TeamViewer Account (Optional but Recommended)
- After installation, you can choose to create a TeamViewer account. This is helpful for managing devices and providing easier access to remote sessions.
- Open TeamViewer and select “Sign Up” to create a free account.
- Fill out the required details (email, password, etc.) and follow the prompts to complete the account creation process.
3. Using TeamViewer for Remote Control
If You Want to Access Someone Else’s Computer (Remote Control)
- Ask for their TeamViewer ID and Password: The person you want to connect to will need to provide you with their TeamViewer ID and temporary password. You can find these on their TeamViewer interface under “Allow Remote Control.”
- Enter Their ID: On your TeamViewer interface, under “Control Remote Computer,” type in the ID they gave you in the Partner ID field.
- Enter the Password: After entering the ID, click “Connect”, and TeamViewer will prompt you for the password. Enter the password given to you and click “Log On”.
- Control the Remote Computer: Once connected, you’ll be able to control the remote computer, just as if you were sitting in front of it. You can use your mouse and keyboard to operate the remote system.
If You Want to Allow Someone to Access Your Computer (Remote Support)
- Give Them Your TeamViewer ID and Password: To allow someone to remotely access your computer, open TeamViewer and locate your TeamViewer ID and Password on the main screen. Share these details with the person who is going to connect.
- Wait for the Connection: When they enter your ID and password, you’ll receive a notification that someone is trying to connect. You may need to allow or approve the connection, depending on your settings.
- Control Sharing Options: You can choose to share your screen with them, or grant them control over your machine. If you want them to only view your screen, there is an option to restrict control.
4. Setting Up Unattended Access
If you need remote access to your computer without needing to be present to provide a password, you can set up unattended access.
- Set a Personal Password: In the TeamViewer settings, you can set a personal password for unattended access, which allows you to access the computer anytime without needing to ask for a temporary password.
- Add the Computer to Your TeamViewer Account: You can add the computer to your TeamViewer account for easier access. Go to the “Computers & Contacts” section and click on “Add computer” to add the device.
- Enable Automatic Login: Once the computer is added, you can set it to automatically log in using the password you’ve set, making future connections faster and more convenient.
