🎼 Getting Started with TagScanner

✅ 1. Download and Install

• Download the latest version.
• Install it normally or use the portable version (no installation required).

📁 Main Interface Overview

The TagScanner interface has tabs for different functions:

1. Music Renamer – Rename files from tag info
2. Tag Editor – View and manually edit tags
3. Tag Processor – Auto-tag files using filename or online sources
4. List Maker – Export playlists or file lists

✍️ Basic Workflow: Tagging and Renaming

✅ 2. Load Music Files

• Drag and drop files or folders into TagScanner
• Or click “Browse for folder” at the bottom left

✅ 3. Edit Tags (Tag Editor Tab)

• Select one or more tracks
• Edit fields like:
  • Title
  • Artist
  • Album
  • Track number
  • Genre
  • Year
  • Album art (right-click on artwork box → Load from file or URL)
• Click Save to apply changes

✅ 4. Rename Files (Music Renamer Tab)

• Choose a renaming pattern, e.g.:
  • Artist - Title → "%artist% - %title%"
  • Use buttons below to insert variables
• Preview the result
• Click Rename to apply changes

✅ 5. Auto Tagging (Tag Processor Tab)

• Use this tab to automatically fill in tags:
  • From file names
  • Or from online databases:
    • Enable Discogs / MusicBrainz
    • Search by album or artist
• Apply retrieved data and click Write Tags

🖼️ Adding Album Art

• In the Tag Editor, look for the album art box
• Right-click → Load cover → From file, folder, or web
• You can embed the image in the tags or save it externally

📄 Exporting Playlists or Lists (List Maker Tab)

• Choose columns and formatting
• Export to:
  • HTML
  • CSV
  • Plain text
  • Playlists like .m3u

⚙️ Settings to Know

• Open Tools → Settings for options like:
  • Tag formats: ID3v1, ID3v2, APE, FLAC, etc.
  • Character encoding (important for non-English characters)
  • Automatic backups of original tags
  • File naming and overwrite behavior
