If you are a stock broker or an investor, it is advantageous to be up-to-date with the current value of your shares. To help you with tracking the quotes and stock values of various companies, you should use a dedicated utility, like Stock Ticker Application Bar.
Fairly customizable and unobtrusive stocks ticker
The application can display a sliding information bar either at the top or at the bottom of your screen. Even if you maximize windows the ticker is still visible. This may come in handy to users who want to keep an eye on the information displayed by the application while working on other projects.
Unfortunately, the bar can’t be resized even though you are able to change the font of the scrolling data.
This can be problematic if you want to use typeface sizes greater than 28 points. Additionally, you are unable to change the background color of the ticker.
Ambiguous and limited data pool
In its settings, Stock Ticker Application Bar lists two options for the source of quotes data, but they are generically named Server #1 and Server #2 without any further information. Moreover, neither the help file, nor the developer’s website offer any clue about the identity of these sources.
Furthermore, you are unable to add other servers from where the ticker can download stock data. This might be problematic for users who want to have backup sources or at least know where the information that is displayed comes from.
A step in the right direction
You can set lows and highs for individual companies’ stock values and the application notifies you when those limits are reached. A handy feature is the ability for you to select the WAV file that will play when an alarm is triggered.
