Quite a few years back, gaming consoles started to make headway and gain more and more users by the day. Legendary titles and consoles are always remembered and for this reason specialized applications have been developed, so we can relive the times when, for instance, Atari 2600 was the video computer system to have.
One such tool gos by the name of Stella and simulates the functions of the above mentioned unit to allow to play any of the games supported by that console right onto your home PC. The interface is simple and quite nice looking, with it’s old-school feel and basic, yet very appropriate color scheme.
After deciding the location where you keep the game ROMs, you can customize the power options by right-clicking on the target file. From the configuration menu you can pick the bankswitch type, left and right difficulty or the TV type.
Leaving all parameters as they are by default will work just fine if you don’t want to lose any time setting each of them up manually. Nonetheless, those who like to adjust everything to their personal preferences, have at their disposal a rich ‘Options’ menu to tinker with.
Thus, Stella offers the possibility to configure the video settings including any available effects, audio and UI options, as well as all the details pertaining to the input events. Since you can take screenshots while in-game, you have the opportunity to specify the desired location where to save them.
Inside the ‘Game properties’ module you can view all the details concerning the selected ROM, including its console, controller and display related settings. On the whole, it’s safe to say that Stella manages to provide a quite good experience and packs enough configuration possibilities to please even the most demanding users.
