Split Table Wizard for Microsoft Excel Description

Microsoft Excel is a powerful piece of software. However, the size of individual spreadsheets can sometimes get out of hand in terms of the numbers of rows, columns and cells. When this happens, it is usually too late to easily split the table into several smaller ones across multiple documents or worksheets.

Split Table Wizard is a convenient software solution designed to help users create multiple smaller and more manageable tables from a single, large and unwieldy one.

An easy to follow and intuitive process

After installation, this Excel add-in can be found in a separate tab of the ribbon menu. As the name suggests, it uses a wizard to guide the user through the process of splitting their table.

The first step is, naturally, selecting which table, or part of a table the user wants to split. This can be achieved by entering the ranges of row/column coordinates to select or by dragging a selection box across the desired cells.

The next step consists of selecting which columns to split the table by. Based on values present in these columns’ cells, the add-in will group the rest of the information present in the table.

The user then has to select whether to split the data to the same workbook, to a single or multiple new ones. In case of the latter, the address of folder in which to create the files must also be provided.

During the last step, options regarding the naming of the workbooks and their headers can be configured.

After finishing this last step, the program begins splitting your spreadsheet. This does not take long, nor does it seem to put a strain on your system’s hardware resources.

A handy and convenient solution

To conclude, this is a useful add-in for anyone working with large tables in Microsoft Excel. Its ease of use and powerful capabilities recommend it to advanced and inexperienced users alike.
