Sleek desktop app that makes it easy to find interesting images
Sporting a minimalistic UI that should seem familiar if you’ve used other Electron-based apps, Splashify provides you with a desktop client for Unsplash, enabling you to navigate through the database without using a browser.
The photos are organized into several lists for your convenience, namely Curated, Popular and Latest. Not only that, but you can use the simple search function that is included to find relevant images based on keywords.
Very easy to use, but it would benefit from a cropping tool
You shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a photo that is wallpaper-worthy, as there are numerous high-quality images to choose from. You can even open the author’s Unsplash page to view their other works.
Once a picture has been selected, you can set it as your desktop background with just a single mouse click. Images that don’t have the same aspect ratio as your monitor will be cropped, so some of the content will be left out.
It would have been great if Splashify came equipped with a simple cropping tool that enabled you to determine which section of the image should be kept, instead of this being done by the app automatically.

On the whole, Splashify does a lot of things right, the biggest downside being that it does not allow users to crop images manually before setting them as their desktop background. The app is very easy to use, though, and it provides access to an impressive collection of stunning photos.
