Sound Pilot Description

Sound Pilot is a lightweight Windows utility able to simulate the sound of a real typewriter while you write a text using your computer keyboard.

The program runs quietly in the system tray until called upon when it reveals several configuration settings to tinker with.

Sound Pilot gives users the possibility to enable or disable the sound, produce different sounds when the text is written with upper case characters, and select between different sound types.

Other important features worth mentioning let you run the utility at Windows startup, adjust the volume, assign different sounds to multiple keyboards, as well as associate buttons with unique sounds by uploading WAV files from the computer.

The program doesn’t come packed with many dedicated parameters, and this could be good news only for rookies, who can learn to set up the entire process with minimum effort.

However, more experienced users may find pretty inconvenient to work with a tool that doesn’t bundle advanced features, such as support for more sound types, and hotkeys, just to name a few suggestions.

On the downside, it hasn’t been updated for a while, so it may cause compatibility issues on newer operating systems. During our testing we have noticed that the tool eats up a lot of CPU and memory, burdens the overall performance of the computer, and interferes with other programs’ functionality.

To sum things up, Sound Pilot offers a simple software solution when it comes to simulating the sound of a real typewriter. It can be easily installed and configured by beginners and professionals alike.
