Shazam for Windows 8 is a versatile application that can identify the songs you’re listening to by using a simple microphone.
It uses the Shazam service in order to accomplish the purpose and works exclusively on Windows 8 devices, including tablets and computers.
The program is able to process music from any external source (that is, not necessarily from the device it’s running one) through the host’s built-in microphone or in the case of a regular PC, a properly connected microphone.
Upon completing the installation process, which requires very little effort, you can make acquaintance with the user interface. From here, you will be able to start the service when you wish to identify a certain song and wait for the results patiently.
Typically, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of seconds to detect the audio stream; however, it could take longer or the operation could turn out unsuccessful if there’s a lot of noise or chattering around you.
Aside the name of the artist that’s playing the song, you will be able to get access to lyrics, discography, biography, reviews, YouTube links, as well as a shortcut for purchasing the track from the iTunes store.
