Secure Eraser Standard Edition Description
Secure Eraser Standard Edition is a powerful utility whose main purpose is to permanently delete files and folders from your computer, by using secured algorithms. Thus, you can prevent unauthorized users from recovering sensitive information.
The interface of the application is intuitive and looks professional. In order to start the deletion procedure, you can import files and folders by using either the file browser, tree view or ‘drag and drop’ method.
The file queue displays the location of each item. Secure Eraser Standard Edition supports five high-end deletion algorithms, and shows a description for each of them.
As we have mentioned before, secure data deletion is just one of Secure Eraser Standard Edition’s features. In addition, the program can securely overwrite previously removed items, or drives and partitions – filenames of deleted files of the drive’s Master File Table (or MFT) and the Update Sequence Number Journal (or USN Journal) if it’s active (on NTFS drives only).
Furthermore, the application can look into the Windows Registry for any errors and fix them (e.g. ActiveX and COM entries, application paths, autorun objects, file extensions, shared files), aside from getting rid of junk data from Windows, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and user-defined locations. Plus, it can generate deletion reports.
From the ‘Settings’ area you can make the app ignore errors and confirm deletions, as well as to create the journal and deletion report. There is a help file included for inexperienced users. However, it is available only in the German language.
The program runs on a low-to-moderate amount of system resources to quickly finish a scan or clean job. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer to create a system restore point, as well as to automatically generate backups of the Windows Registry items before removing them. Nevertheless, Secure Eraser Standard Edition comes with some great tools that should please the pickiest users.
