It works together with antivirus or firewall solutions to ensure that the system is not vulnerable to attacks due to outdated software.

Each time you run Secunia Personal Software Inspector, it starts to scan your system for outdated and thus insecure programs. In order to do so, it compares the metadata in the program files with information stored on the Secunia servers and determines whether security updates are available or not. By default, updates are started automatically, but you can configure it to let you perform this operation manually.
