Screen Color Temperature for Chrome Description

Screen Color Temperature is an easy-to-use plugin available for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Opera, which gives you the possibility to tweak your monitor settings when it comes to the brightness and temperature.

Surf the web in comfort by resting your eyes

This way, you can protect your eyes while reading at night by opting for warm hues and avoiding powerful contrast. Worth noting is that temperature modifications are only applicable to the Chrome pages, excluding other elements like the toolbar or scrollbar, which remain unaffected.

After quickly installing the Chrome extension, it creates a small icon next to to the address bar, which you can click to reveal the configuration panel and explore the options at hand. Two representative buttons are on top of this area for enabling and disabling the plugin.

No preset color modes or custom profile features

Unfortunately, there are no other presets available apart from a warm hue that gets activated by default when turning on Screen Color Temperature, which means that you have to rely on your own perception and experiment with the monitor temperature by clicking and dragging sliders for the red, green and blue channels, along with the opacity.

Below these sliders, you can check out the current temp values. It would’ve been a welcomed feature if Screen Color Temperature provided the possibility to save these settings, thus enabling you to create multiple color profiles and apply them with ease. On the other hand, it remembers different temp settings for distinct webpages within the same browsing session.

Exclude any webpages by creating a whitelist

By default, the temperature settings are applied to all pages in the web browser. However, you can add any page to the whitelist and visit the options panel to view hotkeys and disable any unnecessary one (toggling the addon with Ctrl+Shift+V, adding and removing the active tab URL to the whitelist with Ctrl+Shift+U and Ctrl+Shift+Z, respectively).

Decent Chrome addon for controlling screen temps

We haven’t experienced any compatibility issues with the latest Chrome version in our tests. Screen Color Temperature applied temp settings swiftly. Unfortunately, it lacks some advanced features, such as preset color modes and custom profiles. Other than that, it’s easy to use and should come in handy to those interested in resting their eyes while navigating the web at night.
