RealPopup Description
RealPopup is a messaging client designed to help you send messages across local area networks. It is a simple and easy to use method to keep in touch with other users in your network.
The application runs in the system tray and allows you to set your status message, access the options and restore the main interface by right-clicking on the tray icon. When a user goes online, a popup window appears, displaying the user name and the workstation.
If you want to send a new message, you just have to write its content and select the desired recipient. In order to do so, you can use the integrated network browser that displays all the connected peers, allowing you to choose the one you want to connect to. Furthermore, it allows you to organize them in different groups and place user names in the ‘Favorite’ section for easy access.
In order to receive your messages, the other users have to have RealPopup, WinPopup or any other compatible listener installed on their computer. Note that you have to add those who use WinPopup to the designated group in the ‘Options’ window before initiating a conversation with them.
The application can be set to play a WAV file and open a popup window to notify you when receiving a new message. Actually, you can fully customize the application’s behavior for each user. For instance, RealPopup can completely ignore messages coming from certain users (eventually, log them to a text file), preview the content in the notification balloon (useful to view urgent or important messages) or automatically redirect them to another network station.
The program can also notify you about any delivery issues (including when you are about to send a message to a whole domain), delete or log original messages when replied and change the message font type.
Customizable notification settings, auto-complete capabilities, multi-language support, together with options for organizing network users are features that recommend this application as a instant messenger for LAN networks.
