Qemu Simple Boot Description

Qemu Simple Boot is a handy and reliable utility that allows you to test bootable image before you burn them to a disc. It uses QEMU, which is a known virtual machine emulator that can run a virtual OS on the current host without affecting it.

Qemu Simple Boot was mainly designed as a GUI for QEMU, with the purpose of helping users who are not accustomed with the console approach that the latter adopts. It can work with removable media, CD discs, ISO and IMA images.

The program depends on QEMU, but does not require you to install it separately; the download archive contains everything you need in order to properly use it, including a help file that summarizes its purpose and usage. Also, the application is portable, therefore it does not require installation and leaves the system registry unaffected.

As far as the appearance is concerned, Qemu Simple Boot sports a simple, yet intuitive GUI that despite lacking eye candying elements, is comprehensive and easy to understand. The first step you need to take is to select the type of media you wish to test, then to choose the RAM size for the virtual machine and to press the ‘Start’ button.

At this point, QEMU will open and load the bootable media inside an individual window. However, if it fails to do so, then the image file you imported is corrupt and needs fixing before burning it to a disc.

Qemu Simple Boot behaves decently and doesn’t show any significant flaws. Due to the fact that it uses QEMU as core engine, the credit is shared with the developing team of the latter, naturally.
