ProtAnt Description

ProtAnt is an application that addresses users interested in the study of language or Corpus Linguistics and that can lend them a hand with the extraction of the keywords that can be representative of the content as a whole.

Comes with a clean and user-friendly interface

The application does not require any setup or configuration and you can start using it as soon as you download it into your computer. Upon launch, you are welcomed by a minimalistic, yet clean and easy to navigate interface that is comprised of three main areas.

While on the left side, you can add the target and reference corpus file or directory, in the right side you can preview the results of the analysis. In the lower section of the window, you can set the parameters the app should account for when examining the text and check out a list of the most frequently used keywords by rank.

As a side note, while it is not very elegant, the application also provides you with the results in plain text files that are created in the same location as the application.

Permits you to extract keywords relevant for the text corpus

While the program performs the examinations of the corpus text automatically, you can configure it to conduct the operation under your own terms. Therefore, you can set it to ignore changes related to lower and uppercase, adjust the norm frequency and threshold rank.

In addition, you can indicate the p-value for the Bonferroni correction, the type of effect size measure as well as the keyness statistic. Therefore, the application can provide an alternative to quantitative researchers who mostly relied on keyness values which implicitly meant that you could not process short text very accurately.

An app that can be useful for advanced text analysis

Irrespective of whether you are trying to hone your critical discourse analysis aptitudes or you are interested in following the Corpus Linguistics field, ProtAnt could come in handy.
