One of them is PreDesigner. It’s a neat software solution that helps you asses and illustrate the key paraxial parameters for an imaging system.

Sleek and neat graphical interface

The application installs quickly and it sports a really intuitive and clean graphical interface with lots of features and options that you can adjust. It comes with multiple tools and instructions for each feature that you can find inside the program.

If you need more information, you can check the developer’s website or view some online clips. It would have been nice if it had a toolbar with some more shortcuts.

Work with lens easily

The first thing that you need to do after launching the application is to adjust some key parameters, including the focal length, image distance, magnification, total track and the object distance.

It lets you change field options and adjust object height, angle and some more parameters. You can also enable the feature that stops radius or pick from lens or mirror mode. It also lets you enable the tool for Gaussian beam or draw construction rays and show extra information.

Some more features and tools

It allows you to adjust sliders easily, change the focal length and object height. Advanced options are also available, you can hide remote conjugates, show focal, principal and nodal points.

You can also set the distance between principal planes, refractive index for object or image space. It also lets you adjust wavelength and allow positive object distance. All graphs and information generated inside the program can be easily printed.
