PokerShowdown Description
If you are playing online poker regularly and would like to know if you can make a living from this, then there is a good chance that you would like to determine whether your wins or losses are due to an efficient strategy or sheer luck. PokerShowdown is a lightweight piece of software that enables you to determine the chance versus plan ratio in your winning hands.
First off, you should know that the program requires you have an account on PokerStars, FullTilt or America’s Card Room. If you have a client for the aforementioned services installed on your computer, then you are probably aware of the fact that they create folders to store hand histories.
The idea behind the application is to scan these poker client folders and extract relevant information about the hands played. The information displayed is updated with each scan and added to the database. All files that have been processed are automatically moved into a subfolder so that they are no longer accounted for during the next scan.
PokerShowdown provides you with valuable statistics regarding players and games, namely the total of showdowns, wins, expected wins, bad beats or suckouts, just to name a few. It is necessary to mention that the outcome for each showdown is treated as a discrete random variable Xi, where i is the showdown, while X holds two values (1=win, 0=loss).
