PhotoSmile Store App Description

When taking a group photo with your friends, it is almost inevitable that someone will forget to smile, or just mess things up on purpose, especially when a lot of people are involved.

PhotoSmile is a fun application that can make sure no one ruins a perfect photo opportunity. It connects to your webcam and uses face detection software to ensure every person in the shot is smiling, and does not allow you to take a picture otherwise.

Interesting app that can be a lot of fun even on desktop PCs

Granted, you are not likely to go around taking photos with your laptop, so PhotoSmile is perhaps not as useful when installed on PCs.

Nevertheless, you can have a lot of fun with your friends even when using a webcam, although photo ops may be few and far between.

Does not allow you to capture a photo unless everyone is smiling

The application uses a special algorithm to determine whether every person in the shot is smiling. If that is not the case, the photo button is grayed-out and you are not allowed to take a picture.

The smile detection software seemed to be fairly accurate during our tests, although things may get a bit more tricky if a lot of people are involved, as they all need to keep smiling for a few seconds to ensure the photo can be taken.

Edit your photos and share them with your friends

When you capture a picture, it is stored in the current user’s Pictures folder as a JPG file. You can access it in the Gallery and share it via email, messenger, Twitter or other similar services.

Additionally, PhotoSmile provides you with a basic set of editing tools, enabling you to apply filters, crop the image, alter its contrast and brightness, rotate it and more.

In conclusion, PhotoSmile is a nifty app that you can have a lot of fun with, although it is better suited for mobile devices. It connects to your webcam and only allows you to take a picture when every single person in the frame is smiling, so as to help you avoid boring group photos.
