PhotoKifu Description

PhotoKifu is an application designed to help you analyze the moves you and your partner made during a Go game. To generate a report, you need to record the game or use screenshots that you take during the match.

It is important to note that you need to take the time to set up the camera. More exactly, the ideal position for the camera would be on the side of the goban and as high as possible, so that the diagram is entirely visible and in focus.

In addition, it is recommended that the pictures taken have a high resolution, as otherwise the app cannot read them. You should know that during the data processing, the application reduces the size of the pictures provided to approximately 2 megapixels.

While ideally, you should make sure that the first photo is that of the empty goban, you can replace it with one displaying the White player’s first move just as well. In the eventuality that the first picture does not include the aforementioned types of pictures, then the utility will not be able to reconstruct the opening moves.

You can add the images to the application by drag and dropping the first and last photo taken in the dedicated fields. It is equally important that you can specify the rules you followed during the game. You can also enter additional information such as the teams, players’ names, handicap, yomi, byoyomi as well as the results.

After you introduce all the mandatory and optional data, PhotoKifu starts to examine the set of pictures and reconstruct the moves and therefore, offers suggestions on how the players can rectify them.
