PhotoDownloader Description

PhotoDownloader is a command-line application specifically designed to download any photographs from the Internet, based on the keywords you enter.

Easily download photos from a console-based interface

Console tools are typically addressed toward experienced users, since commands can be sent to the program by just writing a few lines and hitting the Enter key.

However, PhotoDownloader doesn’t come packed with arguments, so it can be handled even by those who usually prefer graphical interfaces.

Doesn’t need installation

It’s not necessary to carry out a setup procedure, thanks to the fact that the image downloading app is portable.

It’s wrapped in a single executable file that can be saved anywhere on the HDD and just double-clicked to fire up the application. No new entries are added to the system registry.

Enter a key word or expression

Once launched, PhotoDownloader asks you what you want to look up. After entering a key word or expression, hit Enter and wait for the task to finish.

All downloads are saved in the same directory as the tool, so make sure that you have plenty of space for the new photos.

Separate folders are created for the tasks and named just like the searched terms. As for the photos, they have the JPG file type and various resolutions.

Offers limited functionality

Unfortunately, there is no command integrated for stopping, pausing and resuming the downloading job. To stop, it’s necessary to close the Command Prompt window. On top of that, it seems to obtain pictures with small resolutions (300pix width). Also, it crashed when attempting to perform the same downloading job if the files already existed.

Downloads only small-sized photos

Taking everything into account, we don’t think PhotoDownloader is a reliable application for getting hold of images from the Internet.

It is rather difficult to use, as it is not possible to stop or pause a downloading operation, and it fetches only pics with small resolutions.
