A powerful computer can be the substitute for a whole range of tools and activities, including making music. Instruments are not really a necessity in audio compositions nowadays, being enough to handle some virtual knobs for stunning effects. Dedicated to such compositions, Phonec2 comes as an audio synthesizer.
Since Phonec2 is not a stand-alone application, it needs a suitable VST host to work, and VSTHost is a suitable example here. Installation is done by loading the module file inside the host, and the package contains module files for both 32 and 64-bit architectures.
All functions are visible within a single panel. Knobs, drop-down menus, and other types of buttons are used as means of interacting with dedicated effects to obtain the right sound. When routed to the currently playing audio layer, changes are observed in real-time.
Not all effects need to be used at the same time. Activity buttons can be used to toggle the state of an effect. Some come with multiple slots, such as the modulator. There’s also a dual oscillator which can be combined with mix, sync, ring, and more, a 2-stage lowpass filter and 1-pole highpass, filter separation, 3-band parametric equalizer, arpeggiator, modulation sequencer, 2 modulation envelopes, echoshiftter, patch randomization, and a default bank of 128 patches.
