PDftoTxt Converter is a tool designed to extract text from PDF files and turn it into TXT format, also known as plain text documents, which can be subsequently opened with Windows Notepad and other similar utilities.

The conversion application can do this without Adobe Acrobat or any another PDF reader installed. However, it requires .NET Framework to work properly. Batch processing is possible in the registered version, so you can convert multiple files at the same time.
Following a speedy setup operation, PDftoTxt Converter gets launched in a simple window whose titlebar design reminds us of Windows XP. All options and buttons are visible, so you don’t have to waste too much time exploring the application before starting a conversion job.
Cannot remove PDF protection to convert encrypted files
You can add the PDF documents to the task list, view their name, type, path, and whether or not they’re encrypted. If password protection is applied, PDftoTxt Converter requests that you remove it to be able to proceed with the conversion operation. Unfortunately, this cannot be done within the tool, which means that another utility capable of decrypting PDF documents is required.
It’s possible to extract text from all PDF pages and place them in a single PDF file, or create one TXT file for each page, depending on your preferences. If you’re not satisfied with the default saving directory for the new TXT files, this can be changed into anything else. Besides buttons for removing a selected PDF entry from the list and for clearing everything, there are no other functionality-related options available.

If the PDF files contain graphical content, such as images or tables, these are ignored by PDftoTxt Converter. It doesn’t support OCR, though, so it cannot be used to extract handwritten text from PDF files.
All aspects considered, PDftoTxt Converter offers a simple solution for extracting TXT content from PDFs to create plain text documents. However, it doesn’t bring anything new to the table when considering the fact that there are many other utilities out there offering the same functionality for free.
