PDF2CHM 2012 Description
As the name of this program implies, PDF2CHM is designed to help you convert PDF files to the CHM format. It can be handled by both first-time and advanced users.
The interface of the tool is clean and pretty intuitive. PDFs can be imported into the file list by using only the file browser, since the ‘drag and drop’ method is not supported.
Once an item is selected for processing, you can configure several settings. For example, you can specify the page range and input the owner and user passwords, if they are required.
In the following steps of the wizard, you can choose the reconstruction mode between bookmark and page number, pick the image type for conversion (PNG, JPG, BMP, or GIF), and adjust the JPG quality.
Skilled users can also set up some CHM options regarding the title, filename, language, style preferences, binary TOC and index, CHI file, enhanced decompilation, and compilation of full-text search information.
PDF2CHM allows you to establish the output CHM and HTML location. But the app can also delete HHP/HHC/HHC files as well as open the output files when the task is completed. All settings can be restored to their default values.
PDF2CHM runs on a moderate amount of system resources, is very responsive to user commands, and contains user documentation. We have not come across any issues during our tests; PDF2CHM did not freeze, crash or display error dialogs. The output files have a good quality regarding images and the text layout.
