Paessler SNMP Tester Description
Paessler SNMP Tester is a lightweight software application designed specifically for helping you debug SNMP requests down to the protocol level in order to identify possible communication and data errors in SNMP monitoring configurations.
The advantages of being portable
The portable running mode ensures that entries are not added in your Windows registry and configuration data is not stored in your computer. You can run the utility by simply opening the EXE file (the installation process is bypassed) and store it on any USB flash drive or other devices.
Clean feature lineup
Paessler SNMP Tester delivers a user-friendly layout that is made up of two main panels: on the left you can find all the configuration settings, while the right side is reserved for displaying the log information.
There’s also support for a help manual in case you don’t manage to tweak the dedicated parameters on your own.
Configuration settings
Only three steps need to be taken in order to run an SNMP test. The program gives you the possibility to enter the IP address of your device, as well as select the SNMP port and community string.
You can choose between several request types, namely MIB2 interface (it reads the traffic counter of a port according to the MIB2 OID), custom OID (you can enter a user-defined OID value) or device uptime (it reads the standard system uptime value from the device, and you may need to select a specific local IP for the SNMP request).
As soon as you have finished configuring the aforementioned parameters, you can run a test. All the details about the test (e.g. time, date, errors) are displayed in the main window. Last but not least, you can export the log information to plain text file format, clear the log with a single click, as well as repeat the test at a custom time.
