O&O RegEditor is a small-sized and portable software utility that enables you to access the Windows registry and make modifications. It aims to provide simpler solutions than the built-in registry editor.
Portability benefits
Thanks to the fact that there’s no installation involved, you can save the program files anywhere on the disk and just click the executable to launch O&O RegEditor.
There’s also the possibility to save it to a pen drive in order to run it on any computer with minimum effort and without previous installers.
Comfortable-looking interface
Once launched, you are greeted by a large window with a neatly organized structure, where you can explore registry hives, edit or rename values, as well as add new ones from scratch (numerical value, string, multi-line string, expandable string, binary value).
Explore and export registry settings
Plus, you can copy information to the Clipboard, export registry settings to file, import a registry file into the selected registry database, manage user permissions for specific keys, or resort to a search function to locate data in keys, values and data.
O&O RegEditor also lets you open paste and overwrite keys, open a key in the registry database, create a list of favorites and export it to file or print it, as well as quickly access frequently needed keys.
Evaluation and conclusion
We haven’t come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the app didn’t hang, crash or display error messages. It had a good response time and minimal impact on computer performance, using low CPU and RAM.
All in all, O&O RegEditor proposes a straightforward solution to accessing and editing the Windows registry, and it can be handled by anyone with ease.
