OfficeIns Description

OfficeIns is a feather-light and portable tool you can use to view and manage installed Microsoft Office plugins. It lets you change their startup mode and visit registry entries.

Portable utility with a simple UI

Since there’s no setup pack involved, you can save the program files anywhere on the HDD or on a USB flash drive to launch OfficeIns effortlessly on any PC. Although it doesn’t edit Windows registry settings or require DLLs to run, it creates a .cfg configuration file at exit, where it keeps your preferences stored.

It’s wrapped in a simple interface made from a standard window with a neatly organized structure, where the Office add-ins are immediately loaded at startup.

View and manage Office plugins

You can check out their program ID, description, start mode, connected status, product name, version and company, date of creation, class ID, registry key, and if it’s a .NET add-in (plus the .NET version). The information of one or more selected entries can be copied or saved to text, CSV, HTML or XML files.

Furthermore, it’s possible to disable any add-in or make it load at startup, on demand or at the first time, change the connected mode, open an add-in or class ID in your registry editor, as well as use a search function to quickly track down a specific add-in. Any columns can be hidden from the list, while grid lines can be displayed.

Evaluation and conclusion

It didn’t hog system resources in our tests, thanks to the fact that it needed low CPU and memory to work properly. We haven’t encountered any stability issues, as it didn’t hang, crash or show error dialogs.

To sum it up, OfficeIns facilitates a user-friendly environment for viewing installed Microsoft Office plugins and changing their settings or disabling them.
