MandelX Description

Working in the research field usually requires you to use efficient tools that can assist you and simplify your job.

Although traditional solutions often prove to be reliable, turning to specialized programs can bring you faster and better results, while saving you from manually processing many tasks. If you study fractals and need an efficient software assistant, MandelX might be what you are looking for.

Note that it requires DirectX installed on your system in order to function properly.

Minimalistic user interface with multiple configuration possibilities

This application comes with a simple layout that integrates intuitive functions under standard menus. Therefore, you can familiarize yourself with them without great efforts.

It is possible to customize several options via the Settings menu, most of which are related to drawing modes or display parameters. On the downside, despite its user-friendly interface, this program does not provide you with a user guide or helpful tips whatsoever.

Intuitive fractal set generator with video recording capabilities

You can generate several fractal sets by relying on this program, including Mandelbrot and Julia sets. It is possible to use the sample files provided by the application or import your own content. Unfortunately, this utility only supports MAN (software specific format) files.

Furthermore, this application provides you with video recording functions, thus offering you more control over your projects. It is possible to configure recording settings, such as FPS, width, height, and zooming direction (in or out).

Mandelbrot and Julia set displays with simple controls

After you import a suitable file to the application, you can toggle a Julia set preview (that opens in another window) if supported, by pressing the J key on your keyboard. Additionally, it is possible to toggle between Mandelbrot and Julia views by pressing the Space key on your keyboard.

Browsing through the generated fractal sets can be achieved without difficulty, as this application supports both mouse and keyboard controls. For instance, zooming in or out can be done by either using the mouse scrolling wheel or pressing the “-” and “+” keys on your keyboard.

To sum it up, MandelX is a lightweight, yet handy application that allows you to generate Mandelbrot and Julia sets that you can record or study without great efforts.
